Dear Parents and Carers

I’m not quite sure where the holidays have disappeared to but here we are, about to commence an exciting new academic year at Phoenix Early Learners and we can’t wait to see you all from Thursday next week.  I hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer (unusually there will be few complaints about the weather, I’m sure).

We have some new children and families joining us in September – I hope you will make them feel very welcome.  Our new Parent Representative will be Tayla – Harper’s mum – and, if you don’t know her already, she has put her photograph up on the WhatsApp Group.  Please do get to know her and, if you’re not feeling brave enough to put suggestions to the staff team, then please do direct them through her.  We are always ready to hear new ideas.

Meet Pip

Pip is our mascot and loves to join in with everything we do at preschool.  He often makes an appearance in updates because he likes to tell all the families what he’s been up to during the week.  He has his picture on the church railings – see if you can spot him.

For those of you new to PEL, we enter via the side gate into the garden where it is safer for the children to wait – if we’ve forgotten to open the gate, please feel free to let yourselves in (we have a lot of setting up to do in the mornings).  We ask that the car park is not used in the morning so that staff and church people can park easily if they need to.  After that it’s often a bun fight with other premises users – be aware, some can block you in!

Newsletter and Snack List

Please find both attached.  Snacks can change according to availability and sometimes use by dates.  There are always alternatives available and we are careful to ensure that allergy and dietary requirements are strictly adhered to.  Both of these are on our website if you need to check them out at any time.  Our policies, term dates and other information are also on the website –  phoenixearlylearners.org.uk – check out our Parent Hub.

Uniform

We have a good stock of uniform, which is not compulsory.  Polo shirts are £8.25 and sweatshirts £9.75 and come in sizes 3-4yrs and 5-6yrs only. Payment via BACS please (60-02-12, 687349143) – goods will be handed over on proof of payment.  Please remember to name items of clothing, thank you.

Trustees

A reminder that your Trustees are:  Chair and Registered Person – Shantha Kane

Treasurer – Ben Clarkson

Safeguarding Trustee – Robert Sampson

Emma Horan (Primary Teacher)

For those of you who don’t know, Jo and I are members of Southborough Lane Baptist Church and our Minister, Tom, has a son in preschool.  We are very family friendly and would like to extend a very warm welcome to anyone who would like to join us for worship on a Sunday morning at 10.30.  We have Sunday School for children from age 3 and FamilyFun@4 once a month on Sunday afternoons – I’ll keep you posted on that.  Our youth and families worker, Matt, was once one of my keychildren!  Do come along and try us out – we would love to see you.

We very much hope that you enjoy the what’s left of the summer break and look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Kind regards

Ginia Brown & the Phoenix Team
