Dear Parents and Carers
What a busy week we have had – Pip has been excited about it:
A little calmer next week when our topic will be butterflies (although they may not emerge until the following week). Our older children will be taking part in another phonics activity, our September starters will be showing us their descriptive skills; our January starters will be showing us how well they can listen to a story; and our April starters will be sharing their verb knowledge. Our story will be Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson.
Meet the Trustees: Robert Sampson- Trustee for Safeguarding
Together with Shantha and Ben I am the third Trustee that established Phoenix Early Learners. I am the lead Trustee responsible for Safeguarding. This is a key role to ensure that everyone involved with Phoenix are in a safe and healthy environment.
My motivation to get involve included that my nephew had attended the previous setting and my niece attends Phoenix where they have both thrived in the caring and nurturing environment. In addition, I have known Ginia Brown for many years, and when I heard that the previous setting was being closed against the will of the staff and parents I wanted to use my 25 years plus Governance and Trustee experience to help establish Phoenix. This included being the Chair of a local Multi Academy Trust with 7 primary schools.
I am retired having worked for Barclays Bank for 43 years. My career included many years training and coaching Business Managers about Businesses and Charities including analysing Business Financial Accounts.
Before Easter I undertook a visit to find out how everything was going given we had recently opened. I was hugely impressed with the way that both the team and the children had settled into the setting. All the children were happy and actively taking part in play activities.
From our Parent Reps:
I’m really not sure I need to say much more, other than to say we’d love you to join us for worship on Sunday morning at 10.30 am or why not come along to Family Fun at 4 pm led by a former Early Learner!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, whatever you are doing.
