Dear Parents and Carers
It has been lovely to have all the children back this week and although the weather may not have been quite perfect, we’ve had great fun. Pip can tell you more:
Next week will be quite eventful and exciting (I think Pip is getting excited already!). On Wednesday we have a visit from the Community Police. On Thursday we will hopefully have a visit from the Fire Brigade with their engine. As you will be aware, this can only happen if they do not get a shout at the agreed time. However, the plan is for them to arrive around 11.30am. In order that lunchtime children do not miss out I suggest we make collection at 12.15, if that is convenient please? This will give the children time to explore the engine and hopefully use one of the hoses (we will photograph and put on Tapestry). For any child who does not normally attend on a Thursday, please feel free to bring them along from midday and we will fit them in. If the crew get a shout I will message out via WhatsApp (and hopefully get them in at a later date).
Alongside all of this our older children will be participating in a phonics activity connected to a very well known story; our September starters will be undertaking a listening and attention activity; our January starters will be grouping and naming; an our April starters will be doing an activity around extending sentences. And all the children will be showing us how well they can use one handed tools.
Medicines
Just a polite reminder to ensure that medicines do not travel to preschool in bags without our knowledge. It is our duty to ensure the safety of all the children in preschool and bags are left in the cloakroom where the children can access them. If your child does need any form of medicine, this must be cleared by and left with a member of staff. Thank you.
Hats
Many children were without hats today. The sun was out during a lot of the day and this left several children with uncovered heads. Please do remember these – sun damage today could have severe repercussions in years to come.
Hours of attendance
Every child from the term after their 3rd birthday is entitled to 15 free hours of preschool each week. If you are not using your full allocation and would like to up your child’s sessions, please do let me know. We have some spaces – mornings and afternoons.
Do please come along and join with Tom, Jo and myself for worship at Southborough Lane Baptist Church on Sunday at 10.30 am. We have groups for all children from age 3, there’s a wonderful family atmosphere and tea/coffee and biscuits after. A warm welcome awaits everyone.
Wishing everyone a very pleasant weekend.
