Learning & Play

Through play, exploration and guidance, we help children grow in character and confidence. We’re building school readiness through independence and steadfast virtues.

The Curriculum

At Phoenix Early Learners, play is purposeful. Through the EYFS framework and our distinctive focus on virtues, faith and wellbeing, we create meaningful learning experiences that spark curiosity and build confidence.

From creative exploration and outdoor discovery to yoga and storytelling, each day is carefully planned to support children’s development while preserving the joy and wonder of early childhood.

Unique to Phoenix Early Learners, our mascot, Pip the baby Phoenix learns alongside the children and shares in their celebration of their achievements.

The Phoenix Early Learners approach

Our Approach to Learning

At Phoenix Early Learners, we believe every child begins their journey with unique strengths, curiosity, and endless potential.

Our illustrations reflect the experiences, values and environment children encounter within our setting.

Learning Through Play

Play is at the heart of everything we do, supporting communication, creativity, and problem-solving. Through carefully planned experiences and responsive interactions, adults support children to extend their thinking and develop confidence in their learning.

Outdoor Learning and Exploration

Outdoor experiences support wellbeing, exploration, and resilience. Outdoor experiences encourage children to explore, take safe risks, and develop a strong connection with the natural world.

Early Language and Literacy

We provide a language-rich environment supporting early phonics and storytelling.

Supporting Children to Stay Safe

Children learn to keep themselves safe through everyday experiences and guided support. As well as physical safety, like road safety and hygiene, we equip children for the modern challenge of online safety.

Emotional Wellbeing and Regulation

We support children in understanding and managing their emotions.

The children learn emotional regulation through calming strategies such as rainbow breathing.

Role Play and Understanding the World

Children explore real-world experiences through imaginative play.

Every day is designed to spark curiosity, build resilience and celebrate discovery.

Transitions and Belonging – Meet Pip the Phoenix

Pip the Phoenix plays a special role in supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, and transitions into preschool and beyond. Through stories, shared experiences and familiar routines, Pip helps children feel safe, build confidence and develop a strong sense of belonging.

Pip's story

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Phoenix Early Learners, our virtue of Inclusion means valuing differences, welcoming everyone, and ensuring all children feel seen, supported, and able to thrive. Aligned with the EYFS framework, our play-based curriculum adapts to individual needs. We know each child as an individual, offering tailored support, inclusive practice, and close collaboration with specialists when needed.
